    Caring for your kiddies Curls

If your little one has a head full of curly hair, and your hair texture is miles apart from your kid’s, then issues like hair porosity or moisture retention may seem foreign to you. There’s no denying that little curly ringlets are totally adorable, but also difficult to manage and it may feel like there’s some secret out there to mastering your baby’s hair routine that you’re not being let into. Well, the secret is that YOU CAN master your little curly mop of hair! All it takes is learning how curly hair works and mastering a routine that your little one enjoys.

Since we’re here to simplify your hair care journey, we’ve done the research for you, read a few books and articles and have put together a few tips for you:

    1. Boost confidence with positive speak

Dealing with curls can be a challenge, especially if your locks are straight and you just easily glide your brush through your locks. Your child may not understand that her hair is diverse and requires some effort to detangle, so remember to remind her how beautiful her curls are.

    2. Maintain the hairs natural oils

Curly hair has a natural tendency for dryness, so you want to use products that won’t strip the hair of its natural oils. As much as we love bubbly suds when shampooing hair, they don’t do much for hydrating curly hair as they contain sulphates – which is the chemical behind the foaming action. Choose a sulphate free shampoo such as Aunt Jackies Coils and Curls Girls Heads Up Moisturizing and Softening Shampoo. It is a non-drying formula that promises to leave your child’s hair as soft as it is clean.

    3. The skill of detangling

Detangling could be a whole topic on its own and can cause tears when not done properly and with cared. To ensure a tear free detangling and hair wash routine, it’s best to section your baby’s hair instead of trying to do it all at once. And if you think you’re using enough conditioner, use more, and to keep it pain free, use your fingers to run through the hair. And remember never detangle hair when it’s dry!

    4. Maintaining curls and minimising tangling

Now that you’ve found your routine, you want to maintain your little one’s hair tangle free as long as you can. You may consider a protective hair style such as braids or banding the hair together. You may also want to invest in a silk pillow case or bonnet to prevent night time tangles.

And lastly, remember to enjoy the experience and celebrate your little one’s curls, treat her and yourself to a real salon experience. If you’re looking for further advice, visit www.agloryhairandcosmetics.com and book a free consultative session with one of our friendly staff.
